On April 5, 100 contestants tried to make it to the 1% question to be in with a chance to win the jackpot. In the end, only contestant Steve made it, and he decided to gamble the £10,000 he'd secured for a chance at winning a whopping £100,000.
Recently the show's TikTok page shared the 1% question, which was: "What two letters replace the question marks?"
The multiple choice answers were: "TE times T equals MESSAGE. TO times IN equals POISON. E times ?? equals LEAVE."
Steve had 30 seconds to answer the question. So why not set yourself a timer to see if you can answer it in the same time limit, and prove you're part of the 1% of people who can?
In the end, Steve locked in his answer as NE. Only scroll on if you're ready to hear the answer. This is your spoiler warning.
After a dramatic pause, Lee revealed Steve had got the answer wrong. The correct answer was actually IT.
In the comment section of the TikTok video, it became clear there were some who managed to answer it, and others found it very hard.
"Could not get it at all," said one person. "Well done for those who got it. That was a tough one for me," said another. And a third commented: "Quite a difficult one for once."
But some clever quizzers managed to crack it, and explained how. "TExT = message, TOxIN = poison, ExIT = leave. Answer is 'IT'."
Another explained: "IT: if you replace the word 'times' with 'X' you will make that are a synonym of the word on the right. teXt = Message, toXin = Poison and eXit = Leave."
